Building Your Independence: Development of Life Skills

Learning a new skill is one of the most empowering feelings in the world. Our ‘Development of Life Skills’ support is all about helping you build your confidence and capacity to live more independently.

This is a hands-on, capacity-building service where we work with you one-on-one or in small groups to help you learn practical skills for daily life. We are patient, encouraging, and break things down into easy-to-follow steps.

What skills can you learn and develop?

  • In the Kitchen: Learn to plan meals, follow a recipe, cook healthy food, and use kitchen appliances safely.
  • Managing Your Money: Get confident with creating a budget, using an ATM, paying bills, and doing your banking.
  • Getting Around Melbourne: Learn how to read timetables, use a Myki card, and navigate public transport safely.
  • Connecting with Technology: Get help with using a computer or tablet to send emails, use social media, or shop online.
  • Building Social Skills: Practice how to start a conversation, make friends, and build positive relationships.

What new skill do you want to learn? We believe in your potential and are here to support you every step of the way.
